Sun-N-Fun 2019

Sun-N-Fun is an annual Aviation Expo/Airshow in Lakeland, Florida. It lasts for five days and even has camping onsite!

Full disclosure. I have been out of sorts for the last two years or so, and am finally getting back to editing the thousands of pictures from several countries, multiple events and several attractions. The details may be a little stale, but the pictures are a great reminder. Enjoy.

Sun-N-Fun Pros:

This a a great place to go for aviation nerds. There were hundreds of aircraft to browse on the ground, from biplanes to modern jets. The air nearly always had someone flying. This year the “entertainment” included the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team and the Blue Angels.

The vendor areas included plenty for pilots and mechanics alike. There are also several seminars and hands on learning experiences which count towards continuing education for IA renewals! The Florida Air Museum in onsite, and there’s a a job fair as well. All this is included in the cover charge of around $40. I say around because tickets vary wildly. You can get day passes or weekly passes, discounts are available for various groups of people, and there are also perks like exclusive seating for shows.

Sun-N-Fun Cons:

Sun-N-Fun can be crowded, there’s so much to see, and it is stretched out over what seemed to be a thousand square miles. Bring a folding chair, dress for miserable Florida heat, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
