Pros:
The venue was excellent for the size of the event. The parking was ample, the bathrooms were clean and had no waiting, and there was enough space to move around while wandering. We saw plenty of excellent cosplay, talent artists, and met a vendor with the widest selection of anime T-shirts I have seen at an event.
Cons:
While it didn’t bother me, I have a friend who complained that the focus was to heavily anime, and it seems the vendors weren’t very diverse for a con that is not advertised as strictly an anime event. Also, there was no true entertainment. No shows, bands, comedy skits, etc. While this isn’t a deal breaker, several events now manage to do it all, so there’s some room to improve here. The venue was nice, but there were several large areas that you had to move between, and even some other stuff outside.
Recommendations:
Collective Con was a very good event that we will try to return to. We saw some interesting cosplay and enjoyed talking to the vendors and other visitors. I’ve made sure to set links under some of the photos for you to further explore some of the beautiful people! Be sure to check out the event site here and join us next year.
UPDATE: We’ve decided to label our favorite pictures with awards beginning now. This event has Favorite Cosplay, Best Gaming Cosplay, Sweetest Assassin, Best Gotham Cosplay, and Best Baby. Baby, of course meaning young child, not necessarily an actual infant; Best Baby just has a ring to it.
