Morean Arts Center (Chihuly Exhibit)

The Morean Arts Center in downtown Saint Petersburg, FL houses a permanent exhibit of renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly. The Chihuly Exhibit is the pinnacle of a fantastic arts community in St Pete.

The Chihuly Exibit

I stumbled on Dale Chihuly’s work many, many years ago. While visiting Atlanta, we had decided to go to the Botanical Gardens. Upon arrival,we discovered several stunning glass sculptures were in place. This was my first exposure to Chihuly, and I was hooked. Years later, after discovering the Morean Arts Center, I knew I had to go. His art is stunning hand blown pieces full of color and texture. The rooms are kept dark, and the lights shine through the glass works, making them otherworldly.

Downtown Saint Petersburg

I was very happy to spend the day in downtown St. Pete. There was little traffic and easy, free parking in the arts district. Saint Petersburg is a beautiful, clean city with cafes, galleries, and the Art Center, all withing easy walking distance. After visiting the Morean Art Center, we had a short walk to visit their hot shop, and watch them make a beautiful piece while we watched. The also offer classes, and finished artwork for sale.
